Reference Resources for Spooky Season - and EVERY season - are now available!

Happy October!

The school year is well underway, and I’m introducing reference resources over the next few weeks. Interestingly, we had a technology crisis during our first two months of school. Our new chromebooks had finally arrived, but they had to have carts built and be distributed to over 1000 students. Our tech crew was working diligently to get the chromebooks in student hands, but in the meantime….photocopied worksheets to the rescue!

I saw this as an opportunity to show my students how research has evolved since I was in middle school in the 80’s! I got out a set of encyclopedias and introduced them to my students. I let them dig in and get a sense of what life was like before copy and paste was a thing. They couldn’t believe I lived through such dark times! It turns out there is some value left in the printed encyclopedia. Since they had no access to the internet and our usual databases, we learned how to use printed reference works and internet resources.

Out of this crisis came a history lesson and some life skills practice, and so my Reference Resource Bundle was born!

Included in this bundle are 6 resources totaling 28 pages, enough for 1-2 weeks of classes!

Best of all, if you’re in a school that’s behind on technology and resources, you can review both unplugged and tech-based resources.

This bundle includes the following resources, which can also be purchased separately:

Reference Books and Sites

Using an Encyclopedia

Using a Dictionary

Using an Almanac

Using a Book Index

And my newest,

Thesaurus Practice which gives students the opportunity to edit some seasonably spooky passages using their thesaurus finds!

I hope you’ll check them out. Please visit my website for links to my TpT store, access to blog posts, curated useful links, and sign up for my email list for a free Genre lesson. updates and new product alerts!
